Stewart Milne Completes New Campus for Acergy
Stewart Milne Construction has completed work on a 17.5 acre development at Westhill Business Park, Aberdeen, creating a new campus for major seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor, Acergy UK Limited. The project, which was the result of a competition set by Acergy, comprises four buildings set in extensive landcaped grounds with the main office premises set around a central lochan. The 12,000 sq m main office building is in two wings with offices either side of a reception atrium, and includes a staff restaurant and cafeteria. The site also includes an engineering workshop (6,800 sq m) and hard standing, as well as staff sports facilities extending to a four court hall, dance studio, squash court and gym. The campus has been constructed with the environment in mind, incorporating energy saving features which include daylight and movement sensitive lighting controls, grey water harvesting, passive chilled beam cooling and a geothermal heat source system. The site will also utilise the advance Wetlands SUDS treatment adjacent to the business park, which was created by the Stewart Milne Group in conjunction with Aberdeenshire Council and working with SEPA and Scottish Water. Acergy, a leading seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor, has signed a 20-year lease with Stewart Milne Developments for the new premises, which can house as many as 800 people. The development at West Port, Dundee which Stewart Milne Construction completed in the autumn of 2009 is to receive a Dundee Civic Trust commendation.

Moray Schools Contract
SMC has begun work on two new schools in Moray. The new Elgin Academy will be built next to the existing school, which dates from the late 1960s. The Primary School currently occupies two sites and the new school is being built on the site of one of these.

Construction begins on new-build council homes
Construction of the first new council homes to be built in Aberdeen for over 30 years has been marked with an official sod-cutting ceremony. Community representatives and local schoolchildren joined councillors and officials at the Hayton Road site, where Stewart Milne Construction will build 30 new homes as part of the first phase of Aberdeen City Council’s new-build housing programme.
