SMC on the team for Moray Schools

Stewart Milne Construction is part of the team selected as preferred bidder for the Moray Schools PPP project. Working with INPP (Moray) Ltd, SMC has been involved in the Competitive Dialogue process for over a year and have beaten off two other short listed bidders.

The project provides a new Academy at Elgin for 1,070 pupils including 20 with special educational needs and a Primary School at Keith catering for 430 and including a Nursery. The Public Private Partnership involves the Design, Construction and Funding of the schools as well as the Hard Facilities Management services for a period of 30 years.

SMC is responsible for the design and Construction and other key team members include:
Operon : Facilities Management, FF&E and M&E consultancy
Aedas : Architects and Landscape Architects
Fairhurst : Civil & Structural Engineers
Thomson Bethune : Quantity Surveyors

As Preferred Bidders, the team will now work with The Moray Council and their advisors to develop information with a view to Financial Close in March/April ’10 and a site start at Elgin soon thereafter. The Keith project requires decant of the existing School and a start to Construction is scheduled for August.

This work, with a value in the region of £35m, will provide a solid platform for SMC’s business in the next 2 years and work is already in progress towards Financial Close.
