Stewart Milne Construction is part of the team selected as preferred bidder for the Moray Schools PPP project. Working with INPP (Moray) Ltd, SMC has been involved in the Competitive Dialogue process for over a year and have beaten off two other short listed bidders. The project provides a new Academy at Elgin for 1,070 pupils including 20 with special educational needs and a Primary School at Keith catering for 430 and including a Nursery. The Public Private Partnership involves the Design, Construction and Funding of the schools as well as the Hard Facilities Management services for a period of 30 years. SMC is responsible for the design and Construction and other key team members include: As Preferred Bidders, the team will now work with The Moray Council and their advisors to develop information with a view to Financial Close in March/April ’10 and a site start at Elgin soon thereafter. The Keith project requires decant of the existing School and a start to Construction is scheduled for August. The development at West Port, Dundee which Stewart Milne Construction completed in the autumn of 2009 is to receive a Dundee Civic Trust commendation.
SMC has begun work on two new schools in Moray. The new Elgin Academy will be built next to the existing school, which dates from the late 1960s. The Primary School currently occupies two sites and the new school is being built on the site of one of these.
SMC have recently completed and handed over the new International School in Aberdeen a new build school built on a site on the west side of Aberdeen replacing the existing campus further West.

Construction of the first new council homes to be built in Aberdeen for over 30 years has been marked with an official sod-cutting ceremony. Community representatives and local schoolchildren joined councillors and officials at the Hayton Road site, where Stewart Milne Construction will build 30 new homes as part of the first phase of Aberdeen City Council’s new-build housing programme.
