Stewart Milne Construction scoops university contract
Stewart Milne Construction has been awarded a £2.5m contract to redevelop areas of the Kydd Building at the University of Abertay in Dundee. The company, which has delivered successful contracts for the University in recent years, will remodel an existing floor space and re-clad the façade to create a modern, impressive frontage and entrance for the University’s Centre of Excellence for Computer Games Education. Commenting on the project, Stewart Milne Construction MD, Bill Imlach, said: “We are increasingly building our expertise in educational projects, from schools and universities through to student accommodation, and we believe we bring a level of understanding of the challenges facing the sector in terms of delivering modern education facilities on time and on budget. We are proud to be associated with such a prestigious and progressive development and, working within tight constraints, will be co-ordinating very closely with the University’s team to ensure a smooth delivery with the minimum of disruption.” Ian Simpson of the University of Abertay, added: “We have had an excellent working relationship and delivery record with Stewart Milne Construction on previous projects, including our innovative White Space creative facility and our ultra-modern Student Centre. We are confident that the team will once again provide us with a new facility that reflects our status as world-leader in computer arts and computer games technology.” The project also provides the opportunity for SMC to work once again with Archial Architects who were also responsible for the Student Centre.
